The Pakistan Cricket Board has dropped fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami from the list of players who will get new central contracts this month. Board chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf announced on Friday that the two pacers and opener Imran Nazir had not been given an annual central contract because of fitness and performance issues.

India (526) posted their highest innings total at Adelaide, surpassing their 523 in 2003-04. This is the third occasion when India have recorded a total of 500-plus at the venue. In 1985-86, India had made 520. India became the first team to post three totals of 500-plus against Australia at Adelaide.

Australia's Adam Gilchrist hopes to finally get the recognition he deserves for his prowess behind the stumps after the wicketkeeper-batsman broke the world record for the most Test dismissals on Friday. Gilchrist bettered South African Mark Boucher's world record when he caught Indian captain Anil Kumble shortly after the tea interval on the second day of the fourth and final Test.
