In an apparent reference to the Left parties' opposition to the Indo-US nuclear deal, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan on Wednesday said the lack of consensus on the issue was hampering efforts to become a part of nuclear mainstream and needed an early resolution. He said opposition to the nuclear deal within the country is driven by 'considerations' other than the factors like non-proliferation cited by some members of the international community.

A three-year-old girl fell into a 45-feet deep borewell at a village near Agra on Tuesday night and rescue operations were on to pull out the girl from the pit. Vandana fell into the borewell in Hulaspura village while playing with her father, police said. Food and oxygen are being supplied to the girl through ropes from the surface. The rescuers said it will take another couple of hours to pull the girl out from the pit and added that her voice could be heard.

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Wednesday said the Indian government was 'little over-cautious' on the Tibet issue but the Tibetan refugees in India enjoyed sympathy of the government and the public. "I have always looked at India from a holistic view. They are a little over-cautious. But that is understandable," he said.

Tata Motors has acquired Ford's British marquees Jaguar and Land Rover for $2.30 billion in an all cash deal, sealing a deal that it pursued for nine months.
Under the deal, Tata would continue to source engine from Ford, which would be paying about $600 million toward the pension liabilities of Jaguar-Land Rover employees.

In a new turn to the murder of Delhi Police's controversial encounter specialist Rajbir Singh, doubts have cropped up about the claim made by his alleged assassin that the police officer's own revolver recovered from the scene of crime here was used to kill him.
